Psychological Research
My research program centers on psychotherapy process, outcome, integration, and training, with a particular emphasis on qualitative methods. I am deeply interested in examining the nuanced and complex factors that contribute to effective psychotherapy. Recent areas of investigation include the client–therapist relationship, client expectations, and other common factors that influence treatment outcomes across theoretical orientations.
I also explore issues related to psychotherapy integration, seeking to understand how diverse therapeutic approaches can be combined to best meet the unique needs of clients. Additionally, my work addresses methodological considerations in qualitative research, including the development and application of rigorous, transparent analytic strategies for studying psychotherapeutic phenomena.
I have published a range of peer-reviewed conceptual and empirical journal articles, as well as book chapters, that contribute to the evolving discourse on psychotherapy practice and research. Through this scholarship, I aim to bridge research and clinical practice in ways that support both evidence-based and relationally attuned care.

In addition to my clinical practice and research program, I offer individual and group consultation services for those seeking guidance in psychotherapy research and/or qualitative methodology. My aim is to help practitioners, graduate students, research teams, and organizations design and carry out meaningful, methodologically sound projects that contribute to the field.
I provide consultation on a range of clinical research topics related to psychotherapy process, outcome, integration, and training. In particular, I have extensive experience supporting projects that examine the client–therapist relationship, common factors, and issues in psychotherapy integration.
I also offer specialized expertise in the use of qualitative methods across diverse forms of data, including one-on-one interviews, focus groups, and open-ended survey responses. I have conducted and published empirical work using approaches such as thematic analysis, grounded theory, consensual qualitative research (CQR), and hybrid qualitative designs. Whether you are in the early stages of study design, navigating data collection and analysis, or preparing a manuscript for publication, I am available to support you at each step.
